I love child care rebate

I seriously do. Because I never think about it so when it turns up in my bank account it's like Christmas. Child Care Benefit is a different story because it saves what comes out of your pocket on a week to week basis, so you do think about it. I loved getting that saving on a day to day basis and I was a bit pissed off when they scrapped the minimum which made us ineligible. In fact, our weekly fees went up by about $70 when they scrapped the minimum (mainly because f*cking ABC put the fees up by 16% of course but that's another story).

The thing is though... I expect that if I want my kid to be cared for, I have to pay for it. I go to work and bring home my scabby minimum wage and for the pleasure of working (I do love working) I have to pay for child care. That's very reasonable. Daycare is cheaper than a nanny and Adelaide daycare is cheaper than Sydney by a mile. So I have no problem paying it. It's just another bill like electricity.

EXCEPT that they don't give you half your electricity bill BACK!! Ha! This is why I love that damn rebate. All of a sudden when you least expect it, wham goes a couple of g's into your bank account. It's like forced savings and now it's 50% thanks to KRudd. He's a Queenslander of course.
